Platyhelminthes: Cestoda

Below are several species of caryophyllaeid cestodes found in various catastomid fishes (suckers), including creek chubsuckers, lake chubsuckers, river carpsuckers, spotted suckers, and smallmouth buffalo.

Megathylacoides robustus is a common proteocephalid tapeworm found in ictalurid fishes (catfishes), primarily in Ictalurus punctatus (channel catfish) in the Big Thicket. The four suckers on the scolex possess inner sphincter muscles. The petri dish containing whole specimens is 120mm in diameter.
